One of the most asked questions to date - "How do you clean the calcium and soap scum off the shower screen?". I have broken it down into 3 easy steps, using just 2 products. First, you have to choose what product you are starting with based on your situation.

1. Excel or Maxim

Excel Bathroom Cleaner is our main bathroom hero. From shower screens, to grout, to the basin right through to the loo - this is one product is the go to. To clean your shower screen from calcium and soap scum, squirt a little on to a cloth and spread over the glass. Scrub any stained areas and if it is really bad, let sit for a few minutes. Before you rinse off, wipe the cloth over again as the Excel is a gel it will stick to the glass slightly.

If your shower screen has a really bad build up, this is where you might like to use the Maxim Descaler. Originally made to descale your kettle, washing machine and dishwasher - you might want to try a test patch first. Providing you're happy to move forward, mix 50:50 with water in a spray bottle. Spray the shower screen, spreading with a cloth. You will need to work fairly quickly as this will dry sticky. Once spread over, rinse straight away. Yes - it works that quickly!

My advice for those who have a build up of scale and scum is to use the Maxim Descaler for the first clean and then upkeep with the Excel Bathroom Cleaner from there.

2. Squeegee!

Many people miss this step. This is an essential step to keeping your screen clean and preventing build up. It also gives you a much nicer clean. Once you have rinsed the screen, squeegee all the water off.

3. Finish With Hyaline Glass Cleaner

This step is optional and you don't have to do it. Air BnB owner, Janita, swears this is what adds an extra layer of protection against re-soiling and makes the following clean easier. I also use the Hyaline glass cleaner on the outside of the shower screen, this doesn't get very dirty, just the finger prints left behind from my small people.

These days I am pretty lucky with our bathrooms staying relatively clean. This is thanks to the combination of using rain water and the products we use in the shower. I hope that helps you achieve a sparkling shower.
